Clarkesworld Magazine - November 2009
The November issue of Clarkesworld Magazine is live, with my short story "Brief Candle". As usual, the issue's cover art is fantastic, and I get to share the fiction section with Cat Rambo. HCIT?
Sale to Clarkesworld Magazine
I just heard from Neil over at Clarkesworld Magazine. He's buying my short story "Brief Candle". I have no idea which issue it will be in, but rest assured that when I find out, I won't be keeping it a secret.
New Myths
I just heard from Scott Barnes, the editor of New Myths. He's buying my short story "The Magic of Science" for the March issue.
Poets & Writers Magazine Publishes "Inspiration" Issue
From the P&W Newsletter:
The January/February 2009 issue of Poets & Writers Magazine focuses on what inspires us in our writing lives. In "Why We Write Now," authors Chris Adrian, T.C. Boyle, Matthea Harvey, Yiyun Li, and Patricia Smith offer their insights on what drives them to write, where they find inspiration, and how they stay focused during these unpredictable times.
But Will Anyone Buy Them?
$100? If copies of The Heretic actually sell at these prices, I'll be shocked. Thrilled, but shocked. Is there really that much interest in the paper edition still, or is it just because it's rare?
Clarkesworld Online Submissions
If you haven't submitted to the outstanding publication Clarkesworld Magazine in a while, be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. Their new online submission form/tracking system is beautiful. It reminds me alot of Jim Baen's Universe's system, except that it's automated. It sends out confirmations with a tracking link, and maintains a "queue count". That, combined with the fact that they no longer send out detailed critiques on every rejection, appears to have trimmed their response time way down.

SATIRICA Cover Art
Cacodaemonia's final cover art for the Satirica anthology is just fantastic. There was a long collaborative process involved in choosing the artist and general direction for the book jacket, but in the end, it rides on Cac's talent. As far as I know, we're still looking at an availability date somewhere around late August to early September.
I've read most of the stories and virtually know many of the writers in the TOC. Here's the full line-up from the Cowboy Logic release:
